“If we could give every individual the right amount of nourishment and exercise, not too little and not too much, we would have found the safest way to health.”

Hippocrates (460–377 BC)

Hi, I’m Abbie, a BANT-Registered Nutritional Therapist, based in Reigate, Surrey, and the founder of Thrive Nutritional Health and the Optimal Health Blood Clinic. I graduated from the British College of Nutrition and Health with distinction and a First Class Honours Degree in Nutritional Therapy from Greenwich University.

From an early age I’ve had a curiosity and passion for health and wellness; pouring over my mum’s nursing and medical books as a teenager and infuriating her at mealtimes with my suggestions of healthy alternatives to her more traditional cooking.

As a Nutritionist, I believe in the 80:20 rule to healthy diet and lifestyle; eating a fundamentally healthful diet, with the occasional ‘treat’ is the key to making sustainable healthy food choices. I don’t believe in fad diets and calorie counting – research shows that these are not a long-term solution to optimal health – but eating wholesome food that you enjoy is!

I use a science-based, Functional Medicine approach to helping clients address their key health concerns. This means I don’t set out to treat the illness or disease, but instead look to investigate and identify the root cause of your symptoms and redress underlying dysfunctions in your body.

As a working mum of two children, I understand what it means to juggle work, family and other commitments. Finding time to address your health is in itself likely to seem a daunting prospect. However, one of my strengths lies in finding ways to work with each client on manageable changes that fit in with their busy lives. Time and time again, I see how even seemingly small changes can have a big impact on a client’s health.

I have a particular passion and interest in female hormone health. I, myself have been going through the peri-menopause for a number of years, and manage the symptoms with a combination of diet, lifestyle, supplements, curiosity, and I’m happy to say (so far!) success.

I’m also experienced with and see clients with a wide range of digestive and hormone concerns, including conditions such as hypo & hyperthyroidism, Type 2 diabetes, PMS, menopause, acne, PCOS, gallbladder support/removal, benign prostate hyperplasia, stress-related conditions.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes
